The founder and principal, Kiko Sanchez has practiced architecture for over 15 years — six of which he has spent executing projects in the Caribbean. At FGS Design, Kiko and his team approach their projects with high degree of sensitivity to each building’s unique geographical location and client needs. In approaching the Pink Sands Resort, Kiko and his team were initially inspired by the history, nature, and overall beauty of Harbour Island, and wanted to incorporate these elements into the overarching design and concept for the resort. The team focused on creating a villa that offered residents a personal, private “at home” experience, while also connecting them to a broader “harbour village” community. In designing the resort, the team was careful to situate each cottage so as to fit naturally within the contours of the Pink Sands site as well as divide the expansive property into a more comfortable neighborhood. They drew inspiration from existing cottages and architecture in the area so as to create a village that — in Kiko’s words —“looks and feels like it’s been around forever.”
